Major casino software developers from all corners of the world have celebrated the New Year with some major jackpot payouts from their progressive mobile slots. However it seems that NetEnt is set on breaking records, as one of their most popular slots has just paid out yet another enormous prize.
A lucky mobile casino player was playing the Mega Fortune Dreams slot around midnight when she landed a massive win of €3.5 million! The latest winner has been identified as a 62-year old woman from Finland, who admits to having been an avid slots player for numerous years now.
The multi-million Euro win was struck on Wednesday, the 18th of January. As the player played from her mobile device, she managed to trigger the slot’s second bonus screen, which offers a Wheel of Fortune game in which big prizes can be won.
To win the progressive prize, however, the player had to spin this wheel and hope that the arrow landed on the ‘Next’ symbol to get to the final level: the major jackpot. The lucky winner managed to hit the ‘Next’ arrow not once, but three times consecutively; helping her to land the life-changing cash win.
After the Finnish player struck her win, she admits she checked her account repeatedly to make sure that it wasn’t some sort of error or misunderstanding. In a statement made the day after her lucky spin, she noted that she hadn’t slept at all since the night before, staying up instead to talk to her husband. “It’s just unbelievable,” she said, also mentioning that she had had bad luck with the very same game previously.
When asked how she would spend her winnings, the 62 year old Finn admitted that the list was so large it would be difficult to decide. She confirmed that her plans so far are to take it slowly and go on a vacation that she had been planning for many months prior. She also added that she would find “plenty of uses” for the money.
Unusually, NetEnt’s Mega Fortune Dreams slot looked like it may not pay out for quite a while. This was due to a major hit in December last year, in which another lucky player triggered a €7.5 million prize, and in January, £6.2 million was won by a player in Cheshire, England. Chief Product Officer at NetEnt Simon Hammon congratulated the latest winner, saying that his company is pleased that its progressive game has changed another player’s life.
Hammon also added that it only took a few weeks for NetEnt to produce yet another big winner for 2017 and more were to be expected.
